What to Expect
In a place where much is new, our roots grow deep. Lewis Center UMC recently celebrated 150 years of vibrant and relevant ministry in the Lewis Center community. We have a special place in our heart for children and youth, and we challenge you to find another local church that is more heavily involved in missions. Join us for worship and see what we’re all about!
Do I need to dress up?
At Lewis Center UMC, everyone is welcome to come just as they are. We are more concerned with real life issues than what you are wearing. Some people like to dress up, and others dress very casually. We encourage you to come the way that you feel most comfortable.
Do you have a separate program for children?
Yes. We offer age appropriate experiences for preschool and elementary children, as well as nursery care for infants and toddlers at our 10:30 AM worship service. Our staff and volunteers are trained to work with your children, and have undergone background checks. Rest assured, your children will be loved and taken care of in a safe, secure, and exciting environment designed just for them. And — just so you know — your children are always welcomed in worship with us. More information about LCUMC’s Children’s Ministry.
Do you have a youth service?
Yes. Reaching the next generation is a priority for our church. During indoor services, middle and high school students are invited to attend a worship experience during the 10:30 AM worship hour designed to meet them where they are and held inside our brand-new Youth Activities Center or outside at the on-site fire pit. More information about LCUMC’s Youth Program.
Do you celebrate communion?
We take communion on the first Sunday of each month as a way of remembering and reflecting on what Christ has done for us. All are welcomed to participate. Communion is served by intinction with volunteers or by individual self-serve elements.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHERE TO GO ONCE I ARRIVE?
We want to make your first visit a great experience. On your first Sunday, let one of our safety team, ushers, or greeters (they wear wear red lanyards) know it’s your first time and we’ll make sure you know where to go – especially if you are coming with children. Note: Our preschool and youth programs are located in buildings apart from the main worship center.
SHOULD I GET THERE EARLY?
If you have children that will need to be checked in, we recommend that you try to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the worship service.
What is the style of your worship service?
Every Sunday at LCUMC you will hear a Bible-based message aimed at helping you grow in your discipleship journey. We currently offer two distinct worship experiences - a traditional worship service with our sanctuary choir or handbell choir and a contemporary worship service with our worship band.
How long are Sunday services?
Usually about 60 minutes.
